Dean Jain discussed China strategy with Beijing alumni

Bejing Alumni get together with Dean Jain on June 20th at Grand Hyatt for an alumni dinner sponsored by Kellogg. Dean Jain confirmed the school's commitment to China and shared his view about Kellogg's China strategy. Dean Jain told the Beijing alumni that China is an important market to Kellogg and we can not afford losing it. Kellogg will focus on brand building in China and make an impact. A number of specific initiatives have been identified or developed, including the following:

  • Pilot some executive education programs in China where Kellogg has strongest capability. One good starting point might be the city branding project, where Kellogg has helped governments and cities around the world to improve their marketing and branding. The first program might take place as earlier as next spring before the Olympics.
  • More interaction with China's best talent. Admissions will travel to China each year in summer/fall and current student will run seminars in China during winter break. In addition, the school calls on alumni to be more actively speaking to propsective students. The Beijing club will launch a Kellogg alumni speaker series in summer/fall
  • Do some big event like the Asia Branding Conference we did in 2006 on a regular basis to draw attention from companies and executives as well as business community. This is a good showcase of Kellogg and the Chinese business community will have something to expect annually or biannually

The school's commitment to China has been increased dramatically when we know more about China. Dean Jain will allocate proper resources and assign some dedicated personnel to handle China.

We look forward to seeing more impact and stronger brand of Kellogg in China
